long time no blog

:/ My computer is actually actually broken now. My motherboard's failed and I'm currently getting all my data off my hard drives onto an external - then I will finally be able to update.

But that might take a while, k bbz. :/

So don't expect too much from me.

number9dream, Okami and Pokemon

So, I know I should really update my Fatal Frame 2 thing but I've written out part 2 and obviously don't want to rewrite it. Why is this a problem, you ask. Well, it's saved on my computer but I'm on the laptop and I am too lazy to go use my computer (partly because it's all broked ): sobz). I'll update soon, because I need to get my unfinished CV off of it anyway.

Anyway, onto business.
Last night I finished reading number9dream by David Mitchell. It took me ages to read due to busyteimz but... I don't know whether I'm glad I read it or mildly pissed off with it. The premise of the book is simple: boy goes to Tokyo to find his father and a hellish amount of things happen. The story itself is augmented with dreams, stories which aren't obviously related to the main plot but somehow are very connected and fantasies. It's a very strange format, but it works surprisingly well. The book is worth reading for the style alone. But the story irks me. Without spoiling too much, the ending is very... unsatisfying. But at the same time there is no other way the book could have ended. Anything else would have been soppy or just plain forceful finishing. Instead it leaves you hanging for a sequel you know will never come and instead you are haunted with what may have happened. I don't know if I like this or if I hate this.

It confuses me verily.

On the other hand, I felt strong enough for some Wii teimz last night and restarted one of my all-time favourite games: Okami. I played the PS2 version (and completed it - which is a feat for me) and loved it so much that I eventually got the Wii version as well as the idea of using the wiimote for my celestial brush...ness was very inviting.

So, having not played the game in probably half a year now I restarted it. God, how frickin' boring is the intro movie? Informative, yes, but boring as hell. I shouldn't complain, because it's very obviously skippable (they show you which button skips it in the corner of the screen at all times throughout cutscenes) but still I watched it (even though that would be my... 3rd or 4th time watching) because I must have some masochistic strain that makes me want to sit through nearly 20 minutes of text (the contents of which I could easily find on the likes of wikipedia). The intro... just skip it. The rest of the game is actually amazing.

One game I'm really not getting on with, though, is Pokemon Pearl. Not impressed by it at all. I got it ages ago but never really played more than a few gyms. Which is weird. Considering Pokemon is my original favourite game. Crystal and Sapphire are my favourites, still. Pearl is just not right. The magic is absent.

Then again, I hated Sapphire when I first got it but it became one of my favourite. Weiiiird.

Anyway that's enough rambling about various things. More ramblings soon, perhaps, because it's better than nothing (sort of).

Wooo still ill!

Yes, yes, I'm still ill. The worst part is right now I could be at Alton Towers with my physics class but noooo... On the bright side the NAB that was haunting me I don't have to do since I've missed so much. (Y) Good teimz, methinks.

Frankie Boyle is leaving Mock The Week. |: Bad teimz. I don't have much else to say other than that.

Hmm yes.... okay, less rambling, more useful shizz.
Checkkit, hobag.
